GFVGA participated in the recent United Fresh Produce Association's Government Relations Council meeting in Washington to discuss key policy and regulatory issues on food safety, NAFTA negotiations, the Farm Bill and immigration related legislation. Attending the Council meeting were Bill Brim of Lewis Taylor Farms and Charles Hall, GFVGA Executive Director.
During visits to Capitol Hill, Brim and Hall met with House Judiciary Committee staff to discuss key elements of the H2C Ag Act put forth by Judiciary Chair Bob Goodlatte. Later in the week Brim and Hall joined other council members to visit key members of Congress and their staff to discuss the overall immigration measures related to DACA, visa reform, border security enhancement, and agricultural workforce provisions.
GFVGA, along with several other ag organizations, are continuing to work with the Judiciary Committee staff, Chairman Goodlatte and other congressional leaders to resolve concerns in the H2C legislation and encourage congressional approval of the Bill. Stay tuned - more to come!
